Figures: An Open Source Lightweight Analytics Dashboard

Built on Django, Open edX is an open source online learning platform. In this talk, we'll cover the problem set that Figures addresses, describe the architecture at a high level, and show the user interface.

The History of Django: Why Things Are as They Are

Self-described “old man” Jackson Wilkinson has been using Django since version 0.95 back in late 2006, and so much has changed in the decade-plus since. Understanding how the platform developed from its early days can provide context and clues for why certain features work the way they do today, introduce you to features you may not have known about, and understand how together they make Django the powerful and flexible platform it is today.
